Repair Work Finally Complete

In autumn 2010, work began on what was intended to be simply the re-rendering and re-painting of the exterior of the Church, to be completed by Christmas 2010.

Unfortunately, removal of the old rendering revealed a succession of severe structural problems which required attention. Even as that work was completed, defects were discovered in the main roof timbers, which required the insertion of steel strengthening girders to make the building safe to use.

For the past six months it has been necessary to vacate the church building, and meet for worship in the adjacent Youth & Community Centre.

At last all that work is completed, and we meet again for worship in the Church from the start of December 2011.

The various building problems have led to an escalation in the cost of the work by more than £100,000 over the original estimate. Of necessity, this money had to be found by diverting funds originally intended to support the ministry here. We are grateful to the many friends who have already donated over £44,000 to help retrieve this situation.

Needless to say, any further help would be most gratefully appreciated.
